Carmel Somers, Human Capital Strategist, ICT Skillnet

Carmel is an Organisational Psychologist and is Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet’s Human Capital Strategist supporting organisations in Ireland develop and implement their future of work strategies. Prior to joining ICT Skillnet, Carmel held a number of senior roles in research & development, consulting services, operations and “technology for good” at IBM.
 
Carmel is chair of Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet’s Cybersecurity Skills Initiative (CSI), and a member of the board of Cyber Ireland where she leads the Talent & Skills working group. In addition, she a member of the Education and Skills working group of Blockchain Ireland and a member of the External Advisory Board of the Irish Institute of Digital Business (DCU).

Luke Smith has over 10+ years’ experience in IT Software, delivering a range of software solutions across the globe. Luke has been working for FastTrack Software for over 3 years as the Customer Account Manager. Luke covers UK & Ireland alongside other regions within EMEA. Luke has been delivering a wide range of successful deployments of Admin By Request to Education establishments & Enterprise organisations looking at internal Privileged Access Management projects solely for the management of Local Admin Rights on desktops and servers. 

Liam McIntyre Information and Cyber Security Project Manager - ATU

Liam McIntyre is the Information and Cyber Security Project Manager with Atlantic Technological University (ATU).  He oversees the implementation and management of the University’s cyber security programme.  

Liam has over 25 years’ experience working in information technology and cybersecurity within the public and private sector. Over his career Liam has led in the delivery of many strategic IT and cyber projects for Letterkenny Institute of Technology and now ATU. 

Liam is a certified security professional with CISM and CIH credentials. He holds an MSc in Innovation Management in the Public Sector, MSc in Internet Systems, and a BSc in Applied Science. 

Simon May - General Manager, UK & Europe - FastVue

Simon has over 25 years experience in the IT industry, both on the customer side with senior roles in multinationals including BAE Systems and Shell, as well as on the supplier side with leadership roles in scale-ups Apptimized, Cloudhouse, Panzura and now Fastvue. With over 5,000 customers globally, Fastvue is the leading provider of online safeguarding reporting software into education. 

Derek Pillar, Cyber & Physical Security Manager – Mastercard

Derek Pillar is a regional security manager for Mastercard, focusing on physical and cyber security threats and is part of many working groups dedicated to strengthening public, private and regulatory collaboration and enhancing resiliency across Europe. Derek also co-leads the UK’s Financial Sector Cyber Collaboration Centre (FSCCC) and is the Vice Chair of the EMEA Cyber Threat Committee at the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (FS-ISAC) and current holds the FS-ISAC Global Leaders Award for 2022. Prior to joining Mastercard in April 2017, Derek was a member of UK’s law enforcement, working in various roles in the Metropolitan Police and the National Crime Agency (NCA). After nearly 20 years, Derek’s law enforcement career concluded in the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU), where he was a senior officer. 

Fergal Lyons, Senior Director Product Marketing - Centripetal

Fergal Lyons is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in product marketing and cybersecurity. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Product Marketing at Centripetal, Fergal leverages his expertise in cybersecurity and go-to-market strategy to drive the company’s growth and market presence.

With a background that spans over a decade at Symantec, Fergal has held various significant roles including Global Partner Product Marketing Manager and OEM Partner Manager. During his time at Symantec, he played a pivotal role in driving the Norton/Lifelock Consumer Sales channels.

Fergal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from University College Dublin, Ireland. His academic background coupled with his extensive professional experience makes him a versatile leader in the field of product marketing and cybersecurity.
